How do I get the wood clapboard or brick material to render or show as a line pattern in exterior elevation views?

It is not possible to assign a hatch pattern for the surface texture of VisualARQ and Rhino objects, but this is something we have planned for future versions. Right now you need to draw a hatch on top of that surface, or just assign a textured material to the object. Remember that you can assign materials by VisualARQ object components (a wall layer in this case) from the object styles dialog:
