Hi McNeel’ies
The “Selected object layer” on the (right side of the) status bar is super slow in comparison to V7, where it’s close to instantaneous - see video. Sometimes it takes 3-4 seconds to update, and that can seem like a loooong time I know the exact same info is available in the layer section of the status bar, but I like that you can see the full name and layer path of the object. And “Selected Object Layer” is the only option checked in both instances.
It’s really slow as hell. Can you please fix this?
also, this is another topic but I suggest you guys skip Rhino 9, go through every post anyone has complained about things being slow and rewrite the program for Rhino 10. At this point it is almost making sense to learn Blender
Hi @dale
I noticed that in last releases it runs still slower than v7 but not so sluggish…
What happen lately is that it shows most of the time “Selected object layer: Varies”
This happen even if only one line is selected or just nothing selected.
Hi @dale
Yes, if there’s (a lot of) sublayers, the entire tree is not visible on the left - it (usually) is on the right, since there’s more screen space
Could you provide some details on how to reproduce the issue that you are seeing?
Also, please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the output here.

I just click on an object and have the issue, sometime it eventually updates.
There’s some random stuff going on.
Window selection of a single curve will show ‘varies’. Sometimes clicking on a single object will show ‘varies’.

Could you post a screenshot of the options that are turned on for that field?
Grasping at straws, could you also post a 3dm file in which you get this to happen?
