Hrmmm. I can’t reproduce this on macOS Sonoma (14.2). Please remind me which version of macOS I should test on.

I’ve twiddled the settings in macOS System Settings > Appearance > Show scroll bars

and tried each setting, but I can’t seem to get them to occlude the spinners.

Hi @dan
here the settings are same as in your pic.
I’m on 14.1.2. I’ll update to 14.2 later tonight when I’m done, and see if it changes anything.

Here’s my current WL Maybe try with with it?

Thanks for confirming. Very doubtful that update will help. I’ll give your Window Layouts a shot! Thank you!

Still no luck with your Window Layout!

Very odd. It still feels to me like some sort of macOS level configuration is not set correctly between our set ups…but I also think that the right-most boundaries of those controls (to the left of the scroll-bar) should be determining the gap between them.

No matter how wide I open the sidebar

I’m in default res on the built in display in full screen, Tested also in none full screen and it is the same

Is this happening in all panels? Your example shows Viewport properties, but am I correct in presuming this is happening everywhere?

Just the panels in the left sidebar. the right sidebar is fine.
Also some panels like Display for example are not nightside justified so it’s the same scroll bar but the element are far to the left.

also tested with the tabs vertical and it is the same problem. again only with panels that have these arrows justified to the right

Interesting. I’m able to get it into this state if I do the following…

  1. In macOS System Settings > Appearance > Show scroll bars, set it to When scrolling (keep these settings open)
  2. In Rhino, with the left sidebar visible, resize it horizontally a little.
  3. Using the trackpad two-finger scroll or a mouse-wheel, with the cursor near the right-side of the panel, scroll a little.

Notice the scrollbar occludes the right-hand side of the controls.

Ok, notice that if you switch macOS System Settings > Appearance > Show scroll bars, set it to Automatically based on mouse or trackpad and then horizontally resize the sidebar, the problem disappears.

I’ll do a bit more investigation before logging this one.

Logged here:

RH-79205 Panels: Layout: Scrollbars can occlude content and other controls

Here this doesn’t make it go away…

thank for logging it.

Odd. I have both a three-button scroll-wheel mouse connected (a 3DConnexion mouse) as well as the build-in trackpad. Do you only have the trackpad, by chance?

Track pad [built in] + [the so called] magic mouse, + Wacom pen

Edit. with the Wacom pen it is fine
Edit 2. actually not, it was a one time flux

Does the problem go away if you set macOS’s Show scroll bars to Always and then horizontally resize the panel?

yes. [and no need to resize]

this setting is actually better for the Wacom pen, as It does not work well with the Auto scroll.

also the When Scrolling option works fine, not of the pen but for the issue we are looking at here [keep the needed gap clear]

Good to know, but I’m still confused how it got “stuck” this way. I don’t see a pattern just yet, except that, when you change the macOS setting, you really need to trigger a resize before it ought to update the layout.

thanks , I think I’ll keep it in Always [the old way] so I can use the pen better.
So I’m now ok here.
