Hello,
I have scanned a small object with iRhino and shared the .3dm file to my windows pc to open in Rhino 7 and am getting the error stating the .3dm is not a Rhino file. Am I missing a step or are there known issues with file compatibility between iRhino v7 exports and Rhino7 open/import?
Thanks.
Hi Kent -
What does this mean exactly? What tool does the scanning?
Can you send us thr file? (tech@mcneel.com)

Hi Pascal,
In iRhino for iPhone, I have used the “Scan an Object” feature to collect a model as 3DM.
I then share that 3dm and try to open in in Windows Desktop Rhino, where I am getting the error stating the .3dm is not a Rhino file.
Did you save the file as a Rhino 8 file instead of Rhino 7? IRhino lets you pick either format when saving
Hi Steve
I saved as Rhino 7 as I am running Rhino 7 on Windows, however I have just now repeated the steps and this time the file size of the email attachment was much larger than my original attempt and the file has opened successfully in Rhino 7 for Windows…
Must have been a “picnic” (problem in chair not in computer).
Thanks,
Kent
I haven’t heard of that one before. Sounds awful similar to PEBCAK
