SaveAs not working right?

So I finally figured out something that’s been super wonky for me:

SaveAs is saving a copy, but not making that copy active.

So let’s say I’m working on “ProjectX_v03” and I go to File>SaveAs “ProjectX_v04” and then look up at the file name at the top of the Rhino window, it’s still v03.

Hello - is the original file a v5 (or earlier) file? Is it being saved as V5?

-Pascal

v6 in/out

And, are you saving without plug-in data by any chance, or geometry only?

-Pascal

actually, I did “without plug-in” because I thought maybe that was a variable (read: vray) I could cut out of my equation.

But what’s that all about

Hello - Rhino will not make the file current if it considers it ‘incomplete’ and Geometry Only and No Plug-in data are not considered complete files.

-Pascal

Ok thanks.

Another of those things that confuses the user until he notices, asks the forum and then remembers at all future times when he uses it.

How tough could it be to supply a dialog that notifies the user what Rhino did and give him a choice to accept it or make the saved file current.

I am sure, however, that most users would agree that what Rhino does with the file by default is correct.
