_Save doesn't work while working on server

Hi,
I have a commercial licence which worked perfectly until the last update.
While working ctrl+save is like a habit for me and that was working perfectly. After the latest update, something happened that I couldn’t figure out. There is this error saying “Failed to save Rhino 7 file … The Temporary file could not be renamed.”.
But I can save as with different name to the server.
While working on desktop not on server, _save command works well.

PS: We have a second commercial licence, it works without any errors.
And I already removed the program and installed back

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Hi Salih -

I assume you are running that other license on a different machine.
Could you please post the text from the Rhino SystemInfo command from both machines?
-wim

Hi Wim,
Yes we are running other licence on a different machine.

This is the one which doesn’t run _Save command.

Thanks for that information, Salih.
On the machine where saving doesn’t work, go to Rhino Options > Advanced. Type “write” in the search field. That should show you the Rhino.Options.FileSettings.WriteLocalTempFileWhenSaving setting. When you change that from “True” to “False”, does that make things better?
-wim

Hello Wim,

Thank you for your help! It works now

Best,
Salih

Hey Wim, I’m having a similar problem:

“Command: _SaveAs Failed to save Rhino 7 file D…3dm. Writing to the disk or storage device failed.”

I’m trying to save a .3dm in units of Meters from inches. I went to the File Properties and changed model and layout from inches to Meters.

I tried going to Rhino>Tools>Options>Advanced; typing “write” in the search field and changing “True” to “False”.
It did not help.
I’ve tried “Export Selected” and “Save As” and adding the word “Meters” just before the file extension .3dm

Here is the text from running the SystemInfo command (only one machine here):

Edit: I don’t know what I did, but it’s saving files as .3dm now, but when I try and Save As an IGES, I get:

“Rhino 7 Failed to Save Failed to save as D:.…igs.
The file writing plug-in failed” regardless of whether TempFileWhenSaving setting is “True” or “False”

Thanks in advance,

David

Hi David -

An intermittent problem sounds like there is something going on with your machine.
Is there enough space on your D:-drive? Have you tried rebooting to see if that changes anything? Does this also happen with a new file and just a single box?
-wim

Yes, Wim, what’s going on with my machine is the operator 99% of the time. I had not tried any other files. I’ll check.
I’ve tried rebooting. I’ll try a new file. Single box? No server here other than local host. Yes, it’s on the Desktop Workstation. I use the laptop (rarely) for demos.
