Looooongtime personal project/tutorial subject, finally found some time to get it to the initial render stage. Huge thanks to @AlanMattano for pushing me to make this as best as it can be, and for texturing the tires and lenses. One of the things I love about these old Group C cars is how such simple geometry - when done right and with a fun livery - can yield such a wonderful shape and finish. I need to do a ton more texturing of the details, engine and interior, but this is at least the complete OML.
a masterclass in the making… absolutely stunning!
Wow!
Nice driver lineup, in what races have they participated? The 24h Le Rhino?
I could send you some race footage, but it’s all on VHS…
I may have a system in the storage room.
PAL or NTSC?
I’m based in Finland… I keep forgetting which of the two that is. Whatever the movie rental company provided
I’ll need to send it out to the conversion house for transfer to PAL then. Please send a self addressed stamped envelope to…
here you go:
WOW!!! that is AMAZING…!!! great work
Even in the absence of HDRI and other elements, it’s quite appealing
Wonderful car (Sauber C9), and a beautiful project of yours. Excellent!
Bravo, excellent modeling!
Did you design the wheels with mesh?
I bought a half way decent version of those wheels on Turbosquid, and then I converted the OBJ mesh to SubD, edited them somewhat to better fit the car and then did my favorite little trick with Rhino SubD’s - extract the render mesh instead of converting to NURBS.
ETA - I think that Alan polished them up afterwards, so not sure exactly what happened to them after that. However, I can say lots of positive things about starting with OBJ geometry and using it to kit bash using Rhino SubD’s. It’s super fun, and a massive time saver to knock out a lot of the stuff quickly and easily.
When I grow up I want to be able to model just like you.
As expected, incredible work.
Ha! Can we do some sorta Freaky Friday thing?? Cause the feeling is mutual.
You both could do a live stream doing that (:
Hmmm, I think you it would be horror Friday for you. My models would give you nightmares or a severe case of indigestion.
Sorry sorry, I said Freaky Friday but really I should have referenced the real master work here - Face/Off
