Rhino8 vs Rhino7 Ghosted mode

Rhino7

Rhino8

You can see Rhino8 occludes more and it’s been a recurring problem for me. I’ve looked through all the graphic settings but I’m clueless how to enable Rh7’s behaviour. I need to see the black edge under the green surface, use it for sub-object selection, etc.

Is there any setting for this I am unaware of?

Also you can see anti-aliasing is better on this computer in Rh7, but I see there is a lot of discussion for that separately already.

I don’t see that here:

Do you get the same with this?

ghosted.3dm (174.1 KB)

Did you modify any display settings? If so, do you get the same with a reset Ghosted mode?
Pls run _SystemInfo and post back the results.

Appreciate your assistance.

Interestingly I cannot reproduce the problem with your file. It works as in your screenshot there.

The only setting I changed in the ghosted view mode is transparency:

But I did some experiments and I believe it has to do with blocks.
If I turn the black base polysrf in your file into a block, or explode it back and forth, this happens in ghosted view:

In my scenario, the objects are both nested blocks with several nesting layers.

Here is my SystemInfo:

that’s quite an old SR already. Pls try in the latest SR

Can you reproduce the problem with the newest SR?

well the bug was fixed in 8.7:
RH-80621 Display: Nesting blocks affects edge and isocurve visibility

Okay thanks, then I have a decent argument to come to IT with. There are 50-70 workstations with commercially licensed Rhinos here. The company don’t want to have to update more than twice a year.
