Rhino not even mentioned in search for a 3D modeler

Hi,

is Rhinos presence major league or what ?
ok only one video but was looking fwd to his assessment and then there was nothing !

It’s a shame! It’s a great software. I’ve bought every version from 5 and up. I use it all the time for everything.
I’ll even start my vectors here before I bring it into 2d design programs.

Dito.

I think that Fusion360 is so big on YouTube, especially with the “maker” crowd, because it offers relatively easy and affordable access to CAM tools. These people often use lasers, CNC mills, 3D printers, and other gadgets, which Fusion renders more approachable.
It’s a fully fledged CAD package that’s free for hobbyists, if you’re willing to jump through many, many hoops to get access, and afterwards be harassed for month with emails, even if you’ve given up using/trying it. But it also comes with many great features for modelling, like thread generators, constraints, etc.
Many people like to complain about the performance of Rhino on macOS, but Fusion is much worse in my experience. It’s an abysmal experience on the mac.
I think that the main “program” is streamed to you via the cloud or something like that. What you install is only a launcher, like with many games nowadays. You have to activate an offline mode, if you want to work in it without the internet, if I remember right. Whoever came up with this craziness was an insane person.
I also think that Autodesk is possibly sponsoring content here and there. I’ve seen them mentioned in videos before.

Fusion360 is also popular because its parametric & quite simple to use. So many of those channels are designing relatively simple objects and having the ability to update sizes easily makes a world of difference. Changing sizes of things further down the road is a chore in Rhino imo. Even just basic fillet functionality in Rhino makes me pull my hair out more often than not. I find Rhino far too fiddly to recommend to a beginner just wanting to build basic stuff for 3d printing.

Maybe it’s just Google. When I do the same search with Ecosia and open the very first link Rhino 6 is mentioned as the 5th ranked software.
