Rhino Material chaos from R5 to R6

Hi,

the same object at Rhino 5 creates a wrong material at Rhino 6 - different name and different material setup (after I disabled plugin). What’s happens here?

(It’s a Rhino 5 setup for Enscape based on Rhino materials.)

-Micha

Rhino 5 - 6.zip (885.3 KB)

It looks to me like Enscape is setting the plug-in ID on the material, but then not managing the material.

Do you have Enscape installed in V6?

Hi Andy,

Enscape doesn’t act as render plugin, it can be best used in Rhino render mode, since it is using Rhino materials and Rhino editor. I did a test and disabled the Enscape plugin at Rhino 5 and 6 and restarted R5/6. I still get different materials at R5 and R6 for the same Rhino file. How to solve a situation like this, now independent from Enscape?

(Before Enscape was installed at R5 and R6.)

-Micha

Can you send me the file?

Please use the file from the first post.

@Andy Any news for this problem?

@andy Now I have a Rhino 6 file from one year before where materials get a “plugin” flag, are disconnected from the Rhino material editor and shows the wrong materials. So, the setups at old project files are destroyed. How to get back my setup?

@nathanletwory Nathan, maybe you could help?

Funny effect - asking the question helps to find a solution, also if nobody answer.

I got an idea now, disabled the VfR4 plugin and all materials are like the should be. Looks like VfR caught the materials. Now I will ask the right team for a fix.

@Micha, thank you for your further investigation. I’ll poke @andy also about it, so that we know about this. Maybe this could be also a bug on our side…
