This is an ongoing issue. I’ve experienced it in V5 as well. Rhino is losing focus of panels continuously. They either disappear or are not in focus. For example, after clicking an object in the viewport, the layers panel will disappear and the command line will go out of focus making it impossible to type commands. Sometimes restarting fixes the problem for a while. It is making the program almost unusable. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a solution?
Are you using any third-party plug-ins in Rhino, or maybe some custom windows shell replacement?
No plugins or shell replacements. On windows 10 1703
Another way to describe the issue, if I click on an object in the view port, the entire Rhino window loses focus.
Hello - is this Windows 10? This is somewhat of a shot in the dark, but can you check the Windows option for the mouse ‘Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them’ in Windows 10 settings > Mouse. If that is on, try turning it off.
-Pascal
@pascal: That seems to have done the trick…As of now the issue has not reappeared. Strange. Thanks for the tip!
Stefano
…AND it’s back. I have to click several times in the viewport to get Rhino focus back. “Scroll Inactive Windows” is off in windows.
Hi Stefano - just checking… does this still happen with another mouse?
-Pascal
Not sure but I can try.
So, the issue goes away completely if the panels are docked. However, if I have any floating panels (within our outside the viewport area) the focus issue returns. For example, if I click to change system volume then click back in Rhino viewport I have to click 3 times each time to activate Rhino.
I just found this post and it cures a really annoying fault,The loss of focus when typing text.
I now have my panels docked.
I got similar issues in Rhino 8 WIP. When I have a floating container I lose focus from the Object Properties Name and in result type in Command Bar.
From time to time I have different but maybe similar issues in Rhino 7. It usually happened when the CPU was busy and I tried to change display mode from the viewport title menu. I had accidental clicks which usually landed on some heavy display mode like “artistic” and only made things worse.
