Rhino Freezes during material adding

Hello team.
I am having a little problem with my Rhino 7. Everything going very nicely until a cpl days ago when adding a material to my model by using standard method of clicking material and selecting physical material etc etc all of a sudden makes Rhino freeze. Tried something from a previous thread - could not find RhinoCycles.VerboseLogging to change to ‘True’ - only ‘Rhinocycles.verbose’.

Any ideas?
Thank you
P

Hi Paul -

Did something change on your system? New GPU drivers, Windows update, …?

Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result here.

When Rhino freezes, you can create a manual dump file and send that to us. You can find instructions on how to do so here → Manually Creating a Memory Dump (DMP File) from an Unresponsive Rhino for Windows [McNeel Wiki]

Hi Wim. Thank you for your reply. Apologies for the double post I actually thought the reply to the thread just went to those in the existing chain. But I can see how that would be super difficult to keep track of now.
Yes, I think my windows did update recently.

Thank you for any help you may be able to offer!
Cheers
P

Here is the copy of my SystemInfo.

The latest studio driver for your GPU is

When you start the install use Custom/Advanced installation type, and check the Clean Installation checkbox.

Note that after updating drivers it can take a moment in Rhino 7 before the engine doing the rendering is ready. Best way is to open an empty file, switch a viewport to Raytraced, then switch back to Wireframe. It will appear to be hanging, but let it just sit there until it is finally back in Wireframe. After that the engine is ready. This part has been hugely improved in Rhino 8.

You won’t be able to find that in Rhino 7, it was added for Rhino 8 only (from Rhino 8.5 onwards or so).

Hi Nathan.
Thank you for sending that update info through. I have updated and restarted but unfortunately the applying of material to layers still freezes the program. Do you have any other ideas please?
Thank you
Paul

I would try disabling the Lumion plug-in and making sure for instance Rhino Render is the current renderer. Then restart Rhino and see if that helps.
