Rhino 7 freezing with textures, materials, raytracing .. very random

Hi, I am having a random freezing problem sometines with textures, rendering, editing materials, etc. After freezing I have to force shut down my notebook. No way to close / reopen rhino. Just upgraded to rhino 7 but same happened in 6. No 3rd party plugins … sys info below.
Any help would be very appreciated.

update your drivers for your intel and your nvidia. Both of which are below our recommended spec of 4gb of vram. Even at it’s best this machine will struggle with gpu tasks. However, the driver updates will help.

intel updates here- (use the scanner tool) - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

nvidia updates here -(use custom/ clean install) - Download Drivers | NVIDIA

Thanks Kyle, that is strange as it was working fine until going from win 7 to win 10.
At the moment it is freezing while navigating inside the render tab, ground plane tab or even a color wheel tab (are these gpu related?) … not running raytrace mode at the moment.

win 10 is more gpu intensive Afaik… someone smarter may have better info. However the bigger issue is most likely the older graphics instructions of your old drivers.

In Rhino 7 all thumbnails are rendered essentially with Raytraced. In Tools > Options > Cycles ensure you are using CPU (it should, but just to verify). Other than that Raytraced is now on CPU. That is probably also very slow if your machine has still a GT 540M, which is wrt rendering prehistoric.
