Hello,
As you can see in the screenshot below, when I save a 2.2 GB rhino file as DWG, it becomes 42 MB.
I’ve seen a few posts about file sizes, but I’m curious to know if there is any improvement or work being done on this issue.
Such a large rhino file sizes is slowing down our workflow.
When exporting profiles for laser cutting I noticed that, even using the Purge command, they remained larger than they should have been.
This happens because the file still contains textures of deleted images used during modeling (the textures are saved into the file even if the surface of the inserted image has been deleted… imho the purge should see that and delete the textures that aren’t used anymore).
The only way I found to delete the superfluous data was to do a SaveAs and uncheck SaveTextures.
Hi @Gijs@lucio_zadra ,
First of all, thank you for your comments.
When I purge the file, the file size decreased to 1 GB. (The size in dwg format hasn’t changed. This is also interesting to me.)
For a file that only has circles and lines, there is still a big difference.
If you upload that file, we can take a closer look.
