Rhino crash when using SelName

I have selected a number of holes (curves) of equal diameter, and naming them to same name.
Then trying select them by “SelName” command:
They show up in dito dialogue pane, They are selected fine when highlighted, but Rhino crashes at pressing Done.

Am I our of bounds here or is this a bug ?

This sounds like a bug - can you post the file you used? --Mitch

Hi,

Enclosing the “test-file” in question.

PS: I will be on travel for 2 weeks from wednesday, and only intermittent
wifi/phone data.

SelName crashes MacRhino5.3dm.zip (22.8 KB)

Hi Johan - this seems to work OK here in 5.3.1, is that the version you have? What version of OSX? 10.12 here.

-Pascal

Hi @johandg-

Thanks for reporting this and submitting a file. Unfortunately, I’m unable to reproduce the crash on my computer with the file you provided. Here are the steps I’m taking…

  1. Launch Rhino for Mac 5.3.1
  2. Open the SelName crashes MacRhino5.3dm.
  3. Run the SelName command.
  4. Select one of the layer and click Done.

No crash on my end.

Hi again.

Is it safe to upgrade to Sierra / 10.12.3 ?
(I wish not to get stuck completely, as everything elese works perfect as
is !).

Br / johan de geer

Hi Johan - I’m updating now. I’ll let you know…
@johandg - it seems to have worked fine - Rhino is still happy.

-Pascal

Hi
Could you confirm update of osx is “safe” ?

Br johan de geer

Define safe.

Many users have been using macOS Sierra (10.12.3) and Rhino 5 for Mac. Please make sure you have proper backups (we recommend Timemachine backups) before updating to macOS Sierra.

FYI: I just attempted to reproduce this crash with the RhinoWIP (5E44w) on OS X 10.10.5 and I was unable to.
