Rhino 8 shutdowns my whole system

Hi there! I recently bought my license for rhino 8, before that I’ve been using the 7th version with no issues whatsoever. The thing is that everytime I start using the 8th with an open browser(vivaldi or operagx known for not using a lot of RAM) to watch some tutorials, it makes my computer shutdown and it has been happening all the time, even writing this while having rhino8 open made it shutdown, my system apparently has all the requirements(it needs to be charged all the time otherwise it will shutdown tho lol) has this been happening to anyone else? I’ve tried to install it again but same issue, any help?

Please start by posting the result of the Rhino command _SystemInfo.

This is the result, thank you

I would start by ensuring you have the very latest driver for your GTX 1060, right now that would be NVIDIA Studio Driver | 551.23 | Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 | NVIDIA

My second guess: If that still doesn’t do it try monitoring your system temperature. Since you have a GTX 1060 in your laptop I’m guessing it is already getting a bit old. If you see temperatures rise then check that all air openings and vents are clean, blow out dust with compressed air if you see blockages (blowing them out regularly is a good thing anyway, especially for laptops).

My third guess: If that still doesn’t do it, then maybe check if you have programs like Discord, Nvidia Experience or other software that can do on-screen drawing like audio control software and other gaming related overlay software. Close those if you do and see if that helps.

Last ditch attempt to get info: If it still doesn’t work please start Rhino 7 and create a memory dump following these instructions: Manually Creating a Memory Dump (DMP File) from an Unresponsive Rhino for Windows [McNeel Wiki] and share with us using Rhino - Upload to Support - copy a link to this topic in the comments section when you do. If Rhino 8 can run for a while then try creating a memory dump from that before it shuts your machine.

Thank you, will try the latest driver but yeah the computer gets hot even tho I have cooling pads, thank you for the answer
