Rhino 8 pinned app not linked

I’ve got the v8 pinned to Windows taskbar, but when opening rhino8 It still opens another rhino7 taskbar icon, though its a v8 running.
Any idea how to get new v8 files open and only populate the v8 taskbar icon?

Hi mikele - yeah, this is getting a look here now - it seems to be not that easy to fix but it is being worked on.

Rhino versions need different App User Model Ids

So I filed a bug internally that when I have Rhino 7 and Rhino 8 running at the same time, they incorrectly combine under the Rhino 7 icon on the taskbar. I thought it was a taskbar bug, because this is the first time I’ve ever seen this happen with an app. It was closed because the team said that both versions of Rhino use the same app id, so there’s nothing the shell/taskbar can do.
