There are users on this forum who are literally asking to have Mac interface on Windows and you decided to make Rhino 8 for Mac w Windows UI. This was the most unattentive decision, although it probably didn’t have anything to do with UI or users at the first place — but not having a person to continue working on Mac version separately from Win. I’m getting older versions only because of that. Best software there’s for designers, so much potential. Where the hell is the founders.
Hi @soound,
What version of Rhino for Mac do you use? What part, or parts, of the Rhino for Mac user interface to you find valuable?
I see you are new to Discourse - welcome and thanks for joining us.
If you hang out here long enough, you’ll realize we have an open development process, and we invite you to participate.
We develop in public - we make our work list public, and we post service releases, service release candidates, and work-in-progress builds on a weekly basis. This frequency allows users to give us quick feedback on what they like and what they hate.
Thanks,

In my opinion, it makes no sense to offer different interfaces for Windows and Mac. Microsoft used to do this with Office. Fortunately, they no longer do so, even if the range of functions is not the same. But at least it looks almost the same.
That’s exactly what would be desirable for Rhino, to have only one interface for Rhino. So, for Windows and Mac. Then you wouldn’t always have to get used to it and it would also be easier to find employees.
I realize that Apple protects its garden well, but McNeel has smart employees who can figure something out. ![]()
Maybe you haven’t noticed the recent developments for V9…
But also, there is a huge amount of resistance from both sides to force people to use elements from ‘the other side’ - many threads about this here. So unifying the interface is one thing. ‘Unifying’ the long-time users is something else again…
I have, and I think I’m on the right track. However, there are still major differences, for example, in terms of the settings.
You said it. I agree.
