I’m running an evaluation license at present, but planning to own a single Rhino license with which I plan to launch on one of two windows computers (my garage shop and house pcs). I’m currently able to jump back and forth with my license just fine, however I’d like to carry my settings with my on a usb drive when I change locations.
I’ve read a lot of forum discussions of various versions of Rhino and settings, plugin, toolbar file locations, etc. Since I’m only concerned with Rhino 8 (and future versions), I’m hopeful that every setting regarding the app is stored in:
C:\Users<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\8.0<Various Folders>
My question is this: assuming that this is where all these settings are located, is there a single setting in Rhino which would allow me to change the default location to another location (for me, something along the lines of “Z:\SomeDrive\MyRhinoSettings\etc”. Many apps I currently use have an environment variable for such a global settings location change. Then, I could move my external drive between computers and either one would read any updated settings, plugins, scripts, toolbars or other items.
I see that there are many individual “advanced paths” in the Options/Advanced menu, some of which look like individual settings ‘types’ for that which I am trying. If necessary, I can alter every one of those, although this would be a bit tedious if I can avoid it. Hence my wondering about a more ‘global’ setting variable.
