Rhino 7 named views hangs

Hi there,

After my VRay crashed once from rendering a file that is too heavy, my name view function no longer works. Rhino freezes once I attempt to click save to create a new named view.

I have already attempted to uninstall Vray, and rhino 7 (then reinstalling). The issue persists although I have yet to reinstall VRay. Below is my system info:

Is anyone able to assist me on this? Thank you!

Not sure if this helps: but I also discovered that rhino will hang when i try to change the layer colour (just clicking on the coloured square in the layer tab alone hangs the window, doesnt even open the colour swatch window).

Just reinstalled vray now since i need it for my work, and vray however can still render - and when hung the vray asset editor window is still interactable. Would really appreciate any help as I have a submission coming up!

Hi -

Note that, typically, an uninstall/reinstall will not actually do anything useful at all. It’s far better to use the “Repair” option from the Windows OS Control Panel.

Are you also seeing this with a new file from a factory-default template with no objects in it? If this is limited to a specific file, we’d have to see the 3dm file to be able to tell more.

Apart from that, I would at least set the NamedView View Mode to List instead of Thumbnails.

Have you considered to use “Snapshot” instead of “Named Views”?

Hi everyone, found the cause of the issue - i was using a borrowed secondary monitor during that interim period. The issue does not occur with my old monitor which I have since gotten back to using.

Not sure why this is so - but anyone with this issue might want to consider checking their second screen
