[Rhino 7 MAC] View Capture to File --> Not working/Weird behavior

Hello,
Reporting a bug with the command View Capture to File. The screenshot captures a mosaic (repetition in x/y) of a part of the view port. Same behavior in both Arctic and Shaded display mode…

Hello @Brian
I would like to attract your attention on this. The mosaic behavior happens as well when :
Command: _Print → Raster… still same problem on the latest SR Candidate 7.6

Thanks.

@jeff can you please help here?

Hi @gari.kun,

What resolution (width, height) are you capturing at? This appears to be the tiling that Rhino uses to create larger-than-screen images…however, it looks like it’s not advancing to the other tiles. Is this a regular viewport, using standard Rhino display pipeline? Or are you using some kind of display plugin or conduit that does its own drawing of the viewport?

Was there a time where V7 did work for you? If so, what service release was it?

Thanks,
-Jeff

i had the same issue for a long time, having posted about it multiple times collecting similar reports i found no help. what helped was leaving mojave behind since rhino does not play well with it in this one regard. maybe avoid big sur since its really ugly… catalina works fine.

Hello @Jeff , thanks for having a look at this.
No plugin used to generate the prints or the view capture to file commands. I am using though a second display monitor… and the resolution used in x3 times the size bringing the image to 4242x2814 px. Problem appears in usual viewports (Top view, perspective, etc). I installed v7 only 1 month ago so it was my first times experiencing the issue on both 7.5 and 7.6SR candidate.

@encephalon thanks for the tip ! I was thinking to upgrade the OS… will follow your recommendation to bring it to Catalina only.

G,

Hello again !

Just to attract your attention regarding this. The issue wasn’t solved. With the current SRcandidate, view capture to file generate white pages. Very annoying since this obliges me to make screenshots with lower quality and then use Indesign to put everything back on scale for the layout.

Please solve this !

If I knew what the problem was/is I would solve it… But right now, everything works as expected using the latest updates and the latest Mac OS. If I can’t reproduce it, I can’t fix it. Unfortunately, I do not have any macs here running Mojave…all of them are either Catalina or Big Sur… It seemed like you were going to try upgrading to at least Catalina based on Encephalon’s comments, but it doesn’t look like you have.

I have pushed the capture resolutions pretty far here, and have not run into any problems whatsoever… This is a screenshot of the last capture I just did with 7.8… It’s an 8x scale, resulting in a resolution of 12112 x 7160

Again, If I could sit here and watch the problem happen, then it’s possible I could fix it…but as I’ve said, everything I’ve tried (using current configs) all works as expected. I cannot “solve” something that I cannot see or reproduce.

I do have access to a Catalina system, so I will see if I can reproduce it there…

Dear @Jeff , thanks for your kind reply and sorry for insisting the other day. I got frustrated and posted right away.

Updating is the way to go and I’m waiting for a holiday to leave the computer all the time it needs. I heard some cases where updating to Catalina or Big Sur, MacBooks took more than 48hours…that’s my only concern.

Best and thank you for the efforts on this. I know how Mcneel team is devoted and always there for their users.
