Rh-6 : I’ve enabled “Ground Plane” AND selected “show Shadows ONLY” .
What I’m HOPING for is to get :
an invisible ground plane
that works ,
is invisible ,
receives shadows ,
and that the shadows START at the objects . I’ve set self-shadowing to 0.001 to pull shadows back to their originating objects , and in Rendered mode “Default Lighting” they originate correctly , but in “Studio Lighting” lighting setting under RENDERED in viewport “Display Options” they don’t and seem to come in a bit light/dark wonky on the water barrels (blue) .
This USED to WORK correctly . Rh-6
ANY real help will be WONDERFUL !! -
Thanks !

Looks like in Rhino 6 and Rhino 7 the ground plane, even set to shadows only will show the background, but not objects or parts thereof that are below the ground plane in Rendered display mode.
The white that you see when turning on the ground plane with shadows only is the background color.
That’s exactly what I’m looking for , but 1. can we get the shadows to re-attach to the objects casting them in RENDERED - “Scene Lighting” mode (Display Options) or am I forced to 2. return to Default Lighting mode ?
Why does this no longer work in Rh-6 ?
Does it work in Rh-7 ?
“Shadows Only” is supposed to give an invisible - “TRANSPARENT” Ground Plane with Shadows - “ONLY” .
Do you see the wonkiness with Scene Lighting in your example ?
I PLAN to animate this using Bongo-2 . 1. Will your projection work if I move the camera around as I work the gates , etc ?
I’ll TRY the environment trick , but MAY have a question or 2 !
