Red screen with WIP6 for mac

Still getting the same result even with the change in antialiasing.

Best,

Richard

Thanks for testing that guys. This feels like an issue with viewport sizes, but that is just a hunch. Does it seem to happen with the right-hand sidebar changes width? (That would resize the viewports).

Hi there,

I got the same red screens issue. Dan, that was what I mentioned in the post which you commented today.
I’ll pay attention to the right-hand sidebar following days and let you know.

I’m not a Mac user and I also didn’t follow along this thread closely – but I thought it might not hurt dropping that I have had a redness problem on Windows too: While RH6 was still in WiP. My problem was not graphics card related, it could finally get fixed by renaming a settings folder.

I can’t seem to trigger it by changing the width of the sidebbars. After I get the red viewport, resizing either of the sidebars (or hiding one of them) instantly corrects the issue. Resizing the main window also corrects the issue.

Ok, thanks for letting us know. It was worth a shot.

I’ve had red screens many times as well in V6 wip and most often where I recall this happening is when changing from one maximized viewport to another maximized viewport using the buttons in the upper left

In fact I just tried it again and it was fairly easy but not consistent to reproduce (15 MacBook Pro)

Once it is red I can fix it by sliding one of the side bars or going back to 4 views

After some observation, I noted that, as Gijs, I got red screens only if I maximise viewports by clicking on viewports’ buttons on upper left bar.

This seems to be fixed in the latest WIP (6.15.19099.12046, 2019-04-09). Have been trying to reproduce, but no red viewports yet.

Thanks for letting us know. We think we got it fixed just yesterday, but it is always good to hear that it really is fixed on your computer and not just ours.

Ola Steve!
Do you know exactly which kind of OpenGl Bug makes this “red screen” behavior on Macs?
Thanks
Tom

We clear the windows with red so when we fail to draw OpenGL content that is what you see.

I haven’t heard of this happening recently. Are you seeing red views on your Mac?

Ola Steve, on a different 3d software, Its why I would like to know whats make OpenGL fail in this specific case inside Rhino.
I am a software developer, we have Rhino users, its why we are curious about that.
Thanks!

I get this red screen of hell issue constantly on my 2019 Mac book Pro. I have been actively experimenting with Changing object display properties for Architectural diagramming and rendering. It really messes with my display as the model gets more detailed.

Hi - please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result here.
-wim

Should I run this when the Red screen appears or just run it whenever?

Just run it whenever.

Let me know if you need any of my .3dm files.

Hi Shane, yes, please. A 3dm file and steps to reproduce would be good to have.
Thanks,

I just started working in Rhino 7 and the red screen is back. I was having similar issues when Rhino 6 was initially released but it hasn’t happened in R6 for some time. I’ve attached a screenshot of red screen and system info. The red screen usually comes up when I’m in a layout window, not model views.
