Is it possible to open a file as a copy so it doesn’t lock the file for others to edit?
We have a similar function for Indesign. It isn’t really an issue but it saves a lot of time when collaborating within a big team. See below.

I second this request. We’ve used a registry edit and batch file to do this previously, but it never worked very consistently, so this would be a welcomed feature.
Hi -
What is the purpose on your end?
Doesn’t inserting as a linked block do what you want?

So at work, all the files are saved in the server. Sometimes there is a file where multiple people need to edit it. Sometimes the said file would be opened by a co-worker to just take a spin in the model, look at the layout settings, or copy some lineworks from across different files.
Having an option to open it as copy (read-only) makes sure that the file doesn’t get locked accidentally.
This is what I often do in Indesign. Just hoping Rhino can do something similar.
