Probs with exporting dxf

Jess DXF. 2d…3dm (50.5 KB)

Hi Folks,

I am trying to export this file in dxf but the recipient I am sending it to can’t seem to see the drawings,
I am just going to export then 2004 neutral as prompted, any idea what i am doing wrong here?

Here is the recipients response to trying to open the file,

I can’t be certain what the problem is. When it’s just
on a different plane it’ll open up ok. You have clearly modelled these
parts in 3D and some software can be tricky extracting reliable 2d files
from 3d models. I usually turn the model into a drawing, and then save
the drawing as a dxf or dwg rather than trying to export from 3d to 2d
in one step. I’m sure there’s Rhino tutorials on the subject.

any help very much appreciated.

You modeled everything in Front view - many 2D software packages don’t like that. Try using RemapCPlane to remap your objects from Front to Top (or just rotate them by 90° in Right view), then re-export…

Thamks Mitch, like this?

Nope, that looks like they’re now flat in Right view, probably won’t work either.

So, from the original:
Make sure you have 4 viewports showing.
Select the objects in Front view.
Type _RemapCPlane.
Click in the Top viewport.
Done.

or,

From the original:
Make sure you have 4 viewports showing.
Select the objects in Right view.
Call _Rotate command.
As the point to rotate around, choose the origin (or type “0”).
Enter -90 for the rotation angle.
Done.

Right?

Correct

Thanks all,

That worked!
