Problem when exporting to Illustrator

Why do models like this one appear like this whenever I export from Rhino to Illustrator. Happens with either Rhino 5 or 6.

Hello - exports to AI only exports the wireframe. If you’l like to overlay a shaded version, you can use the ‘Export Viewport Boundary’ setting and then place a ViewCaptureToFile image in the same frame to ‘composite’
