Hi. I am able to open a pointcloud-file in Rhino8 forMac (.e57, I also tried as .txt with same results… data originates from a .laz-file which was converted in CloudCompare), but the points are not visible. I can select it and apply operations like pointcloudsection or explode on it (and resulting geometry will be visible), but the pointcloud itself remains invisible… any suggestions? A different .e57 file works just fine within the same document…
Hi @Bastian_Trieb,
Can you post a sample file? Can you run Rhino’s SystemInfo
command and post the results?
Thanks,
– Dale
Hi Dale,
thanks for your reply. In the process of preparing a lightweight sample file I found out, what was going on. Apparently scale and position in space affects the ability of Rhino to render the pointcloud correctly. As soon as I moved things closer to 0,0,0 and scaled everything down to a certain extent, suddenly the pointcloud became visible. Should have played around more yesterday…
Hi @Bastian_Trieb,
This sounds like a far from origin. issue. We’d still like to see the original file, probably something we can fix in a service release.
Thanks,

Hello Dale, I have sent you a private message including a download-link to the initial files.
