That works fine here on 7.24 - could you update to the latest Release Candidate?
Apart from that - I wouldn’t think that it’d do anything but could you disable the 3rd party plug-ins, probably beginning with the SimLab PDF Exporter and restart Rhino?
Also, just to make sure, do you have the “Century Gothic” font installed?

Still a bit of mystery, but once again have text coming thru with imported PDF. Yeah!
Century Gothic was installed
Disabled 3rd party plugin SimLab exporter (that alone didn’t solve)
Uninstalled the SimLab PDF desktop APP and SimLab Composer APP (expired trials)
Uninstalled 3D PDF Maker APP (expired trial)
Updated to 7.23
