PDF Crashes Rhino 6

Hello Rhino people,
When trying to create a PDF of a layout in Rhino 6 (6.4.18124.12321, 04/05/2018) using, Adobe PDF, CutePDF and PDF Xchange Lite more often than not Rhino will crash. I have seen this problem on here before but it has only become a problem for me in the last few days.

This is the log:
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%

Stack:
/definecolorrendering

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

NB Rhino PDF Creator will work but I lose line weights. Any insight much appreciated.

Hi Andy - thanks, I’ve sent this along to the developer.

-Pascal

Is there a fix for this yet? I’m having this problem as well. Bluebeam pdf print crashes in layout views, but is fine when printing drafting views

Hi Pascal,

I noticed the issue of Rhino randomly crashing while saving an Adobe pdf as well as rhino always crashing when trying to overwrite a pdf is not fixed.

Is this an issue which is being addressed?

Best,
T

Thanks.
Does Rhino also crash when you run it in safe mode?

I’d update they display adapter driver too.

That, and also try the native Rhino PDF export.

I’ll try the safe mode. With RhinoPDF there is either a huge quality loss no matter what dpi settings when compared to adobe; or in the case of printing vector with an embedded image, the image doesn’t print properly.

Hi, could you provide examples of RhinoPDF not working as it should?
If there is proprietary information in those files, you can upload them on https://www.rhino3d.com/upload with reference to this topic.
Thanks!

The driver update seems to have done the trick and solved the “mystery”.

Thanks

Later edit: It didn’t solve the issue. I did notice however that it does crash when using layouts for printing and overwriting pdf files but not when printing straight from the modeling environment.

Note that we developed RhinoPDF because of crashes with Adobe PDF that couldn’t be fixed.
You might want to try other PDF exporters or file reports on where RhinoPDF doesn’t do what you need it to do.
