is there a way to change the appearance of VA sections in the 3d preview? Is it possible to change the black cut pattern? The options in the section style apparently don´t apply here.

I regret to say it is not possible to assign a different material for the sectioned area of an object. However, you could play some tricks to overlap rendered views with Hidden display views. Check this video: https://youtu.be/wZbDUH_VcBA
