We will release a beta of the new platform along with the new plugin very soon. Among other new features, this one will be available on the beta.
Guys PLEASE - when will we finally be able to program/set the order of parameters in Shapediver.
Iāve been waiting MORE THAN A YEAR.
Twice TODAY Iāve had to do minor updates for clients on my code and have to spend almost 45 min per change just reordering the parameters. What REALLY gets to me is the mixed up order is the same every time - if you could just tell me that logic I could build to it.
COME ON - get this done - I hate boring busy work like this.
Cheers

Hi Guys, any progress on this?

The feature is closely encapsulated in the biggest update we have ever put together, and that will be released in the near future. You had asked earlier this year about the possibility to beta test it, which will be possible. We will let you know when you can start testing it.
I volunteer for beta-testing, too.
We would be happy to beta test as well.
More than two years since this issue was discussed on a related thread. Funny (not) how some developers choose their priorities, isnāt it?
Yeah, the whole web platform and UI for the viewer was always a bit of a train wreck - not very intuitive, buggy and just not designed well. Letās hope it gets better with the new update, although looking at the updated website I notice the icon for login is still this:

Which in my job as a UX designer I have never seen and makes no sense on any level. Why an upside-down standby icon!? I would wager that they do not have a dedicated UX designer. That person would also have flagged that having a basically random relationship between controls in Grasshopper and Shapediver is really unintuitive. Some basic user testing would have also revealed that.
A good product team is a really important driver of success in a company. Right now Shapediver basically does not have any competition, so they get away with it.
Hi there!
Thank you all for your suggestions, feedback, and criticism. They are well taken.
Since some very valid points were raised in this thread, let me try to provide a bit of context about ShapeDiverās recent history and what weāre planning for the next couple of months.
Until roughly 18 months ago, ShapeDiver had been essentially a boot-strapped business with a development team of 3 and a product team of one. We are incredibly proud of the product we built with that core team, and it continues to serve a growing number of users and customers very well.
However, that product had evolved from the beginning of the company, and we realized that we needed a major rebuild to do all the ambitious things we had in mind for ShapeDiver.
Things like integrating ShapeDiver plugins for Illustrator or Revit, based on the work our new partners at Thornton Tomasetti have done with their Swarm tool.
So we spent the first half of 2020 mostly planning and specifying our new platform, making sure to integrate all the learnings and feedback we received - including yours.
Since our investment by Thornton Tomasetti closed last summer, we doubled the size of our team, and weāve been working literally non-stop on building that brand new, scalable framework for ShapeDiver.
Once itās there, it will be much easier for us to react quickly to valid suggestions and feature requests like those in this thread.
But I realize that, as a consequence, our old platform UI hasnāt gotten a lot of attention over the past year, and that has been frustrating to some of you.
I apologize for that, and especially for some of our statements that made it seem like new features were coming faster than they ended up doing.
I count on you guys to test our new toolset soon, including a new Grasshopper plugin, platform UI, and much more - and to give us your honest opinion about it.
Until then, hereās a little sneak peek at our new plugin that shows you how parameters will be ordered soon.
Stay tuned.
WOW - that is looking amazing! Keep up the great work guys and PLEASE - get this too us as soon as you can.
Cheers

@shapediver This is exciting news!
Ilja
That made my day!
I have red the discussion with much interest, and I am very excited about the new updates and UI.
I would like to suggest a feature:
it would be great to be able to link visibility of certain parameters to the state of boolean toggles, or value lists.
I do understand this is possible through API and some web development. However, it would be quite epic to see that implemented for the standard UI too.
Cheers
Hi Guys, its August '21 now, been waiting on this update since April '20, any idea when this total PITA will be sorted?
Cheers
DK
Actually, since June 2019, at least.
Hi Guys,
Can we have an approx timeline for this issue to be resolved?
I have been telling my clients since April that a āmajor upgrade is comingā and have been pushing back my own bug fixes waiting for the light of day when I donāt have to reorder 75 parameters every time I do an SD upload.
If you are releasing next week, fine, I can wait and tell my clients (again) that there is a great new update coming.
If its going to be another month, or 2 or 6 Iāll just suck it up and do the stupid busy work.
Cheers
DK
Guys, itās the most requested feature on your own upvoting system and should have been fixed long time ago. I think it makes sense to make an update for this feature only, instead of trying to include it with a bunch of other things, regardless of how great these other things might turn out to be, which seams to be happening now.
We understand your frustration and we are the first to admit that this issue should have been solved a long time ago. I would like to issue our deepest apologies to all the users who have been affected by this issue. Unfortunately, at this point, releasing a hotfix for it would involve work in our almost deprecated legacy platform, and the feature would not be as complete as the one we are planning on the new one.
I think it is safe to say that we have learned from our mistakes and will refrain from promising a timeline for any new feature for the time being, at least until the major update we are working on is released. I know this feature might sound trivial but it is intricately related to the update and it is not possible to release it separately. It requires a new version of the plugin, the new viewer and an updated geometry backend.
@kiteboardshaper I am sorry to say that the update will likely not happen this week, nor for the remainder of this month. You are the most impacted by this missing feature and I very much understand how cumbersome your update will be. You will be the first to know when the new feature can be tested.
I think part of the pain of re-ordering is the UI. For every input, I have to scroll through multiple pages to even place it correctly.
If itās still looking like it might be awhile, maybe a UI fix on the website would help here?
Less dragging would be ideal - maybe being able to assign a number to each input in the edit window?
I know a hot fix is a pain, but it takes me ~30min to upload each script.
Every update I make, I have do do it all over again. Itās impossible to move quickly and it fills me with dread every time I have to use the shapediver website.
Itās outrageous to wait more than two years for a fix to such a blatant flaw:
But the real issue is how such obvious defects ever make it into production code in the first place? As if the programmer who wrote it isnāt using their own code at all? Any real user can instantly see the failure to address common use cases but for some reason code is shoved out the door anyway. Even worse, itās then forgotten. Paying customers can wail and gnash their teeth in vain for years!
Unfortunately, this isnāt an isolated case in Grasshopper world, certainly not limited to Shapediver.
