Older version of Rhino 8 - Shadow Bug

Hey there,

since the latest update a week ago or so the Rendered and Raytraced modes don´t produce shadows on all objects anymore (however this doesn´t occur in all the files used, BUT also in completely new files).
Even though the drivers are updated and the settings reset, the problem still exists.

Is there a possibility to go back to an older version?

Thank you!

Hi Albert,

Do you have an example you can share?

Please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and post the results.

Do you have a specific version and language in mind?

Yes, of course!
This is the system info (I just reset Rhino and reinstalled, as well as updating the drivers from Nvidia, however the issue still persists):

These are the examples: one completely new file, as well as the file where the issue first arose. The weird thing is, that the planes from the ground seem to make a shadow.

Also, trying it now - the issue only seems to be in Rendered mode.
Can I help with any more info?

For the Rhino version, one or two updates ago and in English would be fine I think.

Sent some previous releases. If these do not help the issue please get on the latest and let me know and we will troubleshoot from there. Thanks

Thank you so much! I´ll check it out tomorrow

Hey, sorry for the late reply, I responded in the private message before.
I went back to the newest release, as reinstalling the older versions and trying these with older and newer drivers sadly didn´t work out.
Can I assist with anything regarding trouble shooting possibilities?
Thanks!

Hi Albert -
Since this used to work fine at some point, it’s likely that something like a Windows update did something with the drivers for the GPUs. I’d follow the links from the Rhino Notifications panel to find the newest drivers for your device and install those with the “Clean Install” option.

Apart from that, from your SystemInfo, you were running Rhino while on battery. Please read the following to make sure that the RTX is being used at all times when using Rhino:

-wim

Thank you so, so much! It´s all fixed now!
I did not think about updating the Intel driver, so that was stupid… The RTX was already set up to always being used, but that´s also helpful to know!
