Ok guys... Importing UI Customizations from Mac Rhino 7

It’s a relief to hear I’m not simply a crazed Mac loner. I’m dismayed with every new version with the amount of nonsense required to simply get back to work. I make the effort to set up my app for my approach and after a year or so, I don’t quite remember what all I had to do. Then along comes the ‘impoved’ version and my prefs are wiped out and I’ve not only to restore them but go on an unwanted adventure trying to find my way through the changes and relocations of features. There’s still issues with V7 that have never been resolved. Like for instance trying to add MergeCrv to a popup menu - can’t be done apparently as there’s no icon available

The newer Window’s centric approach is understandable given the stated arguments/desires of educators, but it seems there’d be a better and more coherent approach to transitioning towards a more unified interface.

I just took another look at the Fusion 360 option, but that whole system is an irritating mess of poorly thought out UI along with all the F–kity- Fudge internet sync and so on.

Anyway - there’s a deadline to upgrade, but I feel pressured to take on a newer version of the app that’s still in development.

Being able to import at least some of the changes is on our shortish list for the next couple months:
RH-78809 Cannot import Rhino 7 Mac palettes into Rhino 8 Mac
Is there more to it?

You can do this in Rhino 8 now. The UI, for better or worse, is completely customizable. We have a big change starting in the next 8.3 RC that should make this process easier.

I’m sorry it feels that way. I wish it were different; we’re scrambling to fix up as much of this stuff as we can, as fast as we can - and the more specifics we get from you, the better off we’ll all be. I know it’s a lot of work to even report bugs. Thanks for reporting them.
