there used to be preview of texture possible to check in display menu in rhino 7
rhnio 8 removed this option and there is no non rendered view with texture preview
i used it every day in rhino 7 and now i have to use rendered view which takes forever to see if texture is correct
im losing my mind

I’m not seeing that here with the current versions of Rhino 7.
Here are those panels side-by-side from Rhino 7 (left) and Rhino 8 (right):
As far as I can see, only the “Transparency” setting is no longer there.
In both versions, you set the material viewing options in the display mode settings:
