Nintendo 64 = Wicked Surfacing Practice

I realized how over my head I was when I tried modeling the controller!! Maybe that will be something I can do over the Christmas Break. Here’s the console - the easier part but still challenging - for me at least. I focused more time on the harder transitions and just winged some of the other parts to finish off the model.

Great work! I was thinking of making the N64 some years ago, but never had the free time to do it. Nice to see that you did it. Looks fantastic!

I had the Nintendo 64 up until a few years ago, when I sold it to a passionate “Nintendo” gamer together with “The legend of Zelda: The ocarina of time” (the best game for the system).

Thank-you Bobi!!

Your Sega Dreamcast reminded me that I modelled this haha: SEGA Dreamcast 2

For your level the console would just be a warm-up. I think the controller will be the harder part. Especially if you don’t have a good physical reference.

I think I had that game too! 98% sure it was but whatever one I had was the first ever Zelda game for the console. Never got really far but the game was an absolute masterpiece.

great job on the console!

does this video help at all with your controller build?

The shrinkwrap tips near the end are gold! I just skimmed the video. The N64 controller is definitely a SubD suitable object but I suck at SubD and won’t be learning it any time soon (brain is too near capacity haha!!). Regardless I’ll watch this and pull what I can out of it. I’m sure at some point you run the “ToNurbs” command on the SubD.

The shrinkrap tips will help me immensely on something totally unrelated.

Thank-you for sharing!!

don’t give up on subd…
it’s much more accessible than you may think..

see this video-

if you decide to give it a go, I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have as you get rolling-

also check out this one, I refer to it a lot-
