Silhouette is nice but it doesn’t play well with objects like VisualARQ walls (blocks). In my opinion, there should be two separate settings
-
contour (example name) - doing what silhouette is currently doing, border around every disjoint object
-
silhouette - border around the whole object, good examples are Blocks or disjoint pieces of a mesh. This probably would not solve entirely the VA Walls problem because even joined walls are separate blocks, more logic is needed here.
The silhouette concept could be expanded in the future.
It could be that grouped objects would share one silhouette.
But for me, more useful would be if there could be a “Silhouette Cluster” - based on some e.g. Key Value assignments. This Silhouette Cluster would share color, linetype, and thickness and it could be altered per group - similar like right now every object can have its own display color, line type, etc.
These additions would make preparing very nice animations and ideograms much easier. The coolest thing about it is that it is non-destructive and in 3D.
There were some attempts to provide such functionalities but the performance of these tools is rather poor.
