Modeling help

Hi All!
Im hoping i am putting this post in the correct forum.
This is something I have struggled with for some time. I need to make a water tight model of a railing volute with specific profile carried around the entire piece. I have included a picture of my intended “final piece”. The profile turns back around on itself which causes some problems. I have tried all sorts of creative ways to make this work, to no avail :::sigh::: If anyone could guide me in the right direction on how to model this, that would be very helpful. I have also include .3dm file if its helpful.
Thanks in advance

I improved the continuity of the outside rail curve and used Sweep1 to build the main geometry.
Then, it’s a question of evaluating what you want, splitting surfaces and finding intersections.

Thank you so much for your reply. Is it possible to attach a file I can open with rhino6. I probably should have stated that in my post.
