Missing Localization Folder - templates

Hi everyone,

I have tried reinstalling the Rhino 7 several times and I seem to be missing the Localization Folder - Templates.

How can I fix this?

Hi Heather - can you please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and copy/paste the results here?

-Pascal

HI Pascal
Thank you for looking into this for me.

Hi Heather @Heather_Cabral - sorry, I was answering two posts at the same time and had them crossed up - my response was probably 100% meaningless…

-Pascal

Pascal,

I took it one step further and uninstalled my 2 shapes plugin then reinstalled Rhino without the plug in and the Localization Folder is still missing.

Below is the New System Information for you to look at.

Have you tried the ToolbarReset command in Rhino? That may fix it. If you have customized your workspace, make sure it is saved under another name besides “default” and back it up somewhere else first.

I just tried…and still missing the Localization Folder- Templates.
Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi Heather - you can try repairing the installation -

Does that do anything useful?

-Pascal

Pascal,

I tried it and it is still not working.

Hi Heather - does the normal expected set of toolbars show up? Does checking Windows updates offer any updates?

@Heather_Cabral - one other thing to try is to right click on the Rhino icon and choose ‘Run as Administrator’
Does that do anything different?

-Pascal

Pascal,

Now that I think about it …It was after the last windows update on Wednesday last week that I noticed this problem.

Tried that …“Run as Administrator” and no difference.

Is there a way that Rhino support team can log onto my computer to have a look?

Darn… and just in case… have you rebooted the machine?

-Pascal

lots of times…lol but I can do it again

Just did restart again and RUN AS ADMIN…No change.

Hi Heather - the developer who makes the installer suspects the dotNet framework problem. Fixer-

-Pascal

I ran this download and still nothing changed. Is there any way to have someone log on to my computer to check it?

Hi Heather - I’ve asked the developer to poke his head in on this conversation and see if he can help. It may be later today, however.

Hi @Heather_Cabral yes, I can remote control your computer and see what I can find. I’ll DM you to set that up.

Hi @Heather_Cabral thanks for your call. Here’s what we learned:

  1. For some reason none of the above techniques were installing your localization folder.
  2. The source for the localization folder existed in %ProgramData%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\Packages
  3. By running %ProgramData%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\Packages\localization (en-us).rhi we were able to install your localization folder, and it was resolved.

For others who may read this, you can probably just copy and paste %ProgramData%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\Packages\localization (en-us).rhi into your Windows Explorer bar and it will run the English Langauge localization installer.
