Materials in Nested Blocks

Hello,

I cannot apply materials to multiple nested blocks unless I select each individual block from the block editor list to apply one.

I’d like to be able to apply a material to the top level block, so all the parts under it assume that material. How do I go about doing this?

In my example, I’d like to apply the material to ‘Ellipses’ or ‘Cones’ and for it to show up on the blocks within them. The material does not show up unless I select each individual block and apply it! For models with hundreds of objects, this ends up being very slow…

Thanks!

Hi Sach - on those nested objects, set the material assignment to ‘By Parent’. Does that do it?

Hi Pascal, that only seems to have an effect if you set it before defining the blocks. I’d like to be able to do this within an existing nested block model… is this posiible?
Thanks!

Hi Sach - you can change the setting via BlockEdit, at least for embedded ones.
