Make2D Not Showing All Lines in Cut

Continuing the discussion from Make 2D leaving gaps/missing lines:

I didn’t use to have issues with Make2D until I tried doing it with an axonometric slice. I need to make the cut where it is in the first drawing and show the result in the Make2D, but a large portion of the section cut lines are missing. I can try again by completely cutting into the model and moving the cut part away instead, but I would like to know why this doesn’t work.

Thank you,

Miracle

Could you please share this 3DM file with us? Thank you.

Whenever I try to upload the file, it says it’s too big. Should I email it instead?

Hi Miracle -

You can upload it to us from https://www.rhino3d.com/upload/

I can reproduce this on a completely different model as well.
Make2D works correctly without clipping, but when generated from a clipped view, some of the cut/section lines are missing.
So this doesn’t seem to be specific to the original 3DM file.

Update: I also tested this after completely uninstalling VisualARQ. The Make2D issue remains unchanged: cut/section geometry is still missing when Make2D is generated from a clipped view.

So this issue does not appear to be related to VisualARQ.

Hi badileanu -

There is a lot going on in your images so I might be overlooking something. You seem to say that the single stair object is missing edges when clipped?
That seems fine here in a simple test:

-wim

Hi Wim,

I created a minimal example from scratch.

On the right is the geometry displayed correctly with the ClippingPlane active. On the left is the Make2D result generated from the same clipped view, where several edges are missing.

I’ve attached the 3DM file.

Hi badileanu -

Are you sure you are doing this with the “Clipping plane intersections” option turned ON?

-wim

You’re right, I had “Clipping plane intersections” turned off this time. My mistake.

With it enabled, the result is much better. However, parts of the clipping plane intersection are still missing on the simple solids on the left and right, leaving gaps in the Make2D result.

Hi badileanu -

From your image, there aren’t any missing lines but there are too many lines. It’s failing to cap those two objects from some reason. That’s not happening here. Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste its output here.
-wim

Yes, exactly — the extra lines are what I was referring to. Those two solids are not being capped correctly in the Make2D result.

Here is my SystemInfo output:

Hi badileanu -

I see this in 8.35 and 8.36 as well. This appears to have been fixed for 8.37.
