Layer panel still broken

Rhino 8 is already on its x.4 build, and still the Layer panel is broken (at least on Mac).

It happens very often in my working sessions that at some point Rhino doesn’t allow me to rename my layers anymore, the only two-clicks action that works is making the selected layer the current one.
I have to reset my window Layout, or hide/and show again the Layer panel to make it work again.

Am I the only one?

Weird. I haven’t seen that. But I also haven’t run Rhino for a longer modeling session for a couple weeks. So the slow click pause click to rename just stops working?

Does it start working again if you toggle the sidebar by clicking the button in the lower right corner of the Rhino window?

Exact

Sometimes yes, sometimes it seems it’s not enough

Thanks, I logged:
RH-79989 Layer panel loses ability to rename layers (Mac)

@brian I have a similar problem,
I cannot rename a Layer with nested sub-layers.
Version 8 Mac (8.16.25042.13002, 2025-02-11)

Left click (select) and Enter (Highlight) works fine on a single layer.
But when trying to highlight and rename a Layer with nested sub-layers, the Enter command conflicts with last used command (in this case _box)

see attached video

i had this happening either, suddenly using the last used command, there obviously is a focus issue and its becoming really annoying.

its not just nested layers but generally

that the last command is used instead only started happening with the latest update, now its a mix of not responding or it highlights for short then unhighlights automatically making it impossible to change anything.

There’s worst.

Layers disappear when they shouldn’t.
Great!

Hi @the_eraser,

This was caught and fixed for next week’s release candidate.

Hi @ohlers,

I will be looking into the layer issue you are having this week.

Thanks,

– Dale

It says “windows only”. But I’m on Mac.

It’s fixed on the Mac.
