Hi,
V8
a real pesky problem I had in V5 was create a new layer, and when revisiting the layer palette, it had gone from where I made it down to the palette base.
the only way to stop this was to click the up arrow to move it up then the down arrow to move it back to where I placed it, immediately after making it, or before closing palette or adding another layer maybe. Then it would remain there.
I have started out in V8, or trying to, and I am thinking where is that layer I made, and lo and behold its at the foot of my LONG layer palette. after I scroll all the way down.
Why is this still happening after V6, V7 and then V8.
I can’t reproduce that behavior here. I select an existing layer, hit the + icon, and the new layer appears under the selected layer. I then hide the Layer panel and show it again and the new layer is still in the same position. What are you doing differently?

Hi Wim,
I just create a new layer, then a bit later its moved, always to base of palette.
It has forever done that in V5, and now in V8.
new PC etc win 10 etc.
reported it many yrs ago, and was told unable to get that to happen.
Well it happens with me.
al my work sees me forever make a layer, move it up and down one using the triangl;es, else it WILL move to palette base.
sometimes when using layer palette, certainly if I close then open it.
Could it be that the V5 file has brought that bug into V8 with it ?
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the output here.
Can you specify this? You create a new layer, and that is in the correct place. You step away and get a coffee, and when you sit down again, the layer is moved to the bottom of the pile?
