Laptop specifications for running simulations with grasshopper

Hey guys,
I’m about to start a new position and I’ve been told to choose an appropriate laptop for my work.
My job involves running microclimatic and bioclimatic simulations (e.g. Ladybug tools, Climate Studio, etc.) on Grasshopper as well as running parametric life cycle assessment (e.g. OneClick LCA, CAALA)which requires API connection to databases. Also, 3D modeling and visualization is another part of my job.
Having a budget limit, I narrowed down my options to the following laptops:

  1. Lenovo Legion Pro 7 16IRX8H 82WQ - 180-degree hinge design - Intel Core i9 - 13900HX / up to 5.4 GHz - Win 11 Home - GeForce RTX 4080 - 32 GB RAM - 1 TB SSD NVMe - 16" IPS 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) @ 240 Hz

  2. Acer Predator Helios 3D 15 SpatialLabs Edition PH3D15-71 - Intel Core i9 - 13900HX / up to 5.4 GHz - Win 11 Home - GeForce RTX 4080 - 32 GB RAM - 1.024 TB SSD - 15.6" IPS 3840 x 2160 (Ultra HD 4K)

  3. HP ZBook Studio G10 Mobile Workstation - Intel Core i9 - 13900H / up to 5.4 GHz - vPro - Win 11 Pro - RTX 3000 Ada - 32 GB RAM - 1 TB SSD NVMe, TLC - 16" IPS 1920 x 1200

The first two are gaming laptops and the third is a mobile workstation, but with slightly weaker specifications.
Can you please help me in choosing the best option for my work?

Hi @Payam_Madelat,

Even a 16GB i5 does the job for these sort of simulations. Daylight simulations are requesting the most of your computer. Energy simulations with energyplus do not run much faster on a better machine. It is just a one core process.

Hi @Erik_Beeren,
Thank you very much for your prompt response.
Actually, the laptop that I am currently using has the same specifications as you mentioned.
The problem I face mostly, is the time that I spend waiting for the changes that I make to the parameters to take effect. Quite often, Grasshopper gets frozen and it takes some time for it to respond. This is what I intend to avoid. with one of my workflows which included energy carbon footprint calculations I had to wait around 15 minutes for tweaking parameters.
