Kite design with image mapping questions

Hello, I’ve designed a kite and I’d like to print a paper pattern for the sails which has the appropriate mapping but when I unroll the polysurfaces, the image is reoriented incorrectly. How can i preserve the mapping orientation when i unroll so that i can print them on paper and wrap them onto the physical frame and the image lines up as in my model? thanks so much for any help.

in this image, the highlighted polysurface on the left is the one that is unwrapped on the right. you can see that it should be all forehead and should be stretched but it is a flat version of another part of the image.

Hi Mtdelucia,

@Jussi_Aaltonen & @BrianJ can help in this regard. Note that there are improvements in the Rhino WIP in this regard.

thanks I just uploaded the file FYI

There may be other ways to do this but the extractUVmesh in the WIP looks to be doing the job.

thanks. thats gettign closer but the little tabs dont get unrooled properly and also how do i preserve scale?

Hi @mtdelucia ,

This is a tricky one but totally possible in the Rhino WIP. Here’s how…

Wow! Thank you so much. that’s gonna take me a minute to get my head around but the result is exactly what I’m looking for. I really appreciate the effort of recording the video.
