that certainly would be a lovely bug to have! i would really appreciate it happening in v8… but i am just happy that it has been targeted, just dont drop that, it was there and it is simply missing now for the mac crowd…
two more important things which people were asking:
1
in v7 for mac, setting up shortcuts was much easier/faster because you could type in the name of the command into a search field and then simply modify it. that has been completely obliterated. could we please have that back again? at least the search field. right now we have to scroll through a huge list to manually find the command.
2a
combinations like alt , and alt .alt +alt TAB and what not, are still missing.
2b
there my general question would be if it would not be possible to bring back the menue shown here below to set shortcuts entirely yourself instead of looking through a predefined list?
These are interesting because they underscore the difference between Rhino 7 for Mac and Rhino 7 for Windows in terms of how these things were stored. The keyboard shortcuts have never been part of the “toolbar” file. But maybe they should be?
Currently in V8, and always in V7 and prior for Windows, keyboard shortcuts and aliases required you to re-enter the macro for each one. I’m not sure what needs to change architecturally for this to work, and I also wonder how much it would break… but nonetheless, I’ve logged something like what you’re requesting:
RH-79347 Store Aliases and Keyboard Shortcuts in RUI/RHW files
I think in lieu of the ongoing issues with the interface functionality, there’s an obvious ‘not ready for primetime’ quality of V8. It’s not a workable or reliable upgrade at this point - it’s still a beta version. The upgrade window/discount should be extended or reset for long time users.
i am just worried that this gets lost again since it was written up quite a few times and its still missing.
right now the keyboard shortcuts are highly incomplete. the fact aside that setting these up in v7 was so easy (maybe any news on this?) can we please have back the complete list of possible shortcuts in the mean time?
shift combinations are missing entirely
ctrl combinations are missing entirely
ctrlalt combinations are missing entirely
ctrlaltshift combinations are missing entirely
altf1, altf2altf3 etc. are missing
also alt , and alt .alt +alt -altTAB are missing
I’d done it that way for a while but it was such a pita to get to and configure that I ended up migrating most of that stuff to aliases (m for move, c for copy and so on).
