Just share my experience. I use two monitors during my work in GH & Rhino. When GH is in the same monitor with Rhino, shortcuts work. When they are on different monitors, Rhino takes over the keyboard.
This might happen just for now and still no solution. But I would like to share my experience

I confirm Iā€™ve seen this regularly happen to people using two screens with maximized GH on the second screen.

There is a workaround hidden in the VersionHistory.txt file, in the AppData folder.

1- Click - Show desktop button on taskbar (Rhino and Grasshopper window minimizes)
2- Click one more time - Show desktop button (Rhino window restores, but Grasshopper window is not)
3- Just double click Grasshopper window to maximize it, and the problem disappears.

So I initially posted this topic nearly five years ago. Other than noticing that many people have the same problem, I havenā€™t really been following this post because this solution seems to work, if you are using two monitors:

  1. Have Rhino maximized on one monitor (for me, itā€™s my primary monitor)
  2. Have Grasshopper open but NOT maximized on the second screen. Instead, manually stretch the GH window large - nearly to maximum size, but not quite.
    Doing this, I canā€™t remember the last time GH froze. There are times when a command Iā€™m typing does not seem to be working within GH, but then I realize that Iā€™ve inadvertently clicked in Rhino, or started a command in Rhino, and Rhino is still expecting me to finish that command (which is why GH wonā€™t respond). ESC is the easy fix, and back to GH I go.
