Keeping camera level with the 3dConnexion SpaceNavigator 3d Mouse

Hey all,

I’m dusting off my SpaceNavigator 3d Mouse which I bought a few years ago and haven’t used in a while. Want to use it to navigate through architectural models in Rhino and as I move through “hallways” I have positioned my camera 54" above the floor and I want to keep it perfectly level. I’ve tried all 4 Navigation Modes: Object, Fly, Target Camera and Drone Modes but none of them seem to keep the camera level - as I move forward through the hallway. As a result, even though I start with the Camera perfectly level at 54" above the floor the camera doesn’t seem to stay perfectly level and eventually points down slightly and ends up “crashing” in to the floor.

I was hoping that maybe Drone Mode would keep the Camera perfectly level but it doesn’t seem to.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Cosmas,

I’m not at my computer right now so I can’t try this out, but how about going into the spacemouse settings and temporarily unticking the tilt and elevator options so they don’t respond to inadvertent user movements?

Regards
Jeremy

In addition to Jeremy’s suggestion setting the viewport projection as “Two Point Perspective” keeps the camera level though it does not lock the elevation by itself.

Thank you both! These suggestions worked. Really appreciate it!
