After a GPU blackout during a Karamba3D FEM analysis, my PC was forced to shut down.
Since then, Rhino itself starts normally, but when I try to acquire the Karamba3D license
(from Rhino command), it stays on “Please wait…” and freezes.
Rhino and Grasshopper otherwise work fine.
This issue started immediately after the forced shutdown.
I have already:
Fully shut down and restarted the PC
Reconnected the network
Tried running Rhino as administrator
Do you think this could be related to plugin license handling or a stuck license session?
Any advice on how to diagnose or recover from this state would be appreciated.
Sorry for the inconvenience. So far, I have only seen cases of the Karamba3D license plugin getting stuck when Karamba3D was installed simultaneously via both the MSI installer and Yak.
Please try uninstalling and reinstalling Karamba3D. When doing so, make sure that all components are completely removed—especially the files “Karamba3D_LicensePlugin_Rhino7.rhp” or “Karamba3D_LicensePlugin_Rhino8.rhp”, which contain the license plugin.
Thank you very much for your reply and for taking the time to help me.
I am not entirely sure what exactly changed, but when I opened Rhino again later, the issue was resolved and I was able to obtain the
Karamba3D license successfully.
I also checked the plugins from within Rhino, and I could only find one related plugin listed as “Karamba3DLicense,” so it does not seem that I currently have duplicate installations via MSI and Yak.
That said, your explanation was very helpful, and I will definitely keep your advice in mind in case a similar issue occurs in the future.
