To see the progress between trials, I would simply open 2 instances of Rhino, copy the new to the clipboard, go to the previous instance, and paste the new one over it, with a bright layer color - works great! I thank all those who helped out with all this.
The CAD looks good enough, and the machine carving is just what I was hoping for!
My fear of point manipulation of a surface is GONE. Most of this was done with MatchSrf and when things got weird, I’d do direct point manipulation in 3 views, and keep an eye on Perspective window to let me know if a point “went south”
There are (4) 6 x 6 surfaces. SetPt z used a lot in TOP view, and a lot of top, front, right point manipulation. At this point (no pun intended) I do most of my work in those 3 windows. Since being a user in November of 2022, I feel that I’ve gotten over a big obstacle - Now to move on
I thought of SubD, and watched Kyle Hutchinson’s video on it, but I wasn’t sure if I could accomplish what I show here. I’ll read up on it.
Software is Vcarve Pro. VCarve will take only one model at a time, and then I bring in the profile as .dxf. The machine is a Techno HD, bought it used. It has about 23x35 x 5 inch work window, and an HSD 2.2kW spindle with ER25 capability.
