Now we have section tools that work amazingly well translating 3d objects to drawings, is there some way of creating an insulation hatch the works in all directions when sectioned. This would mean I could model in an insultation batt and it would instantly appear in my plans and sections. At the moment I have to draw these in separately in 2d and I would dearly love this to be automated.
I’m not sure if that means that you have an insulation hatch pattern?
If so, you can just use that in the section style. If not, you’ll have to find and download such pattern from the net somewhere.

Hi @Jack19 As @wim said, you can now set the SectionStyle property to layers and objects that include hatch patterns, and those will show in your clipping drawings. See here for details about how to do it.
You can always add new hatch patterns to Rhino as @wim mentioned if the embedded set does not have the patterns you need. Is that what you are after?
Thanks for your response! And yes I have an insulation hatch already but it is always facing xy and the origin point for the hatch doesn’t reset for each object so the hatch invariably turns out incorrectly.
Hi I am not sure if this is the right thread here:
I’m currently involved in a renovation project in northern Germany. Our typical workflow includes:
3D Scanning (TLS)
Processing with Cloudcompare
Modeling in Rhino
Generating 3D Models
Creating 2D Plans
While this workflow sounds straightforward, we are encountering significant challenges when it comes to the 2D phase, particularly with applying hatches for different materials. My co-worker finds the hatching process to be particularly cumbersome and it’s slowing us down.
I’m reaching out to see if anyone has any advice or knows of any good workflows or tutorials that could help streamline this process. Specifically, we’re looking for tips on:
• Efficiently applying hatches in Rhino that might integrate better with our current workflow.
• Best practices for managing and organizing materials and hatches in 2D plans with rhino.
• Any plugins or tools that could simplify the process.
Your insights and recommendations would be greatly appreciated
Hi, if you are generating 2D documentation using your 3D models, i would recommend checking out visualarq. Rhino 8 has significantly improved 3D hacthing, but visualarq might be a good option in the context of this type of projects with short deadlines.
